Cellular News reports that Acer’s CEO and President Gianfranco Lanci has resigned from the company with immediate effect after he disagreed with the rest of the company board about the future direction of the company. In a statement the vendor said that Lanci held different views from a majority of the board members, and could not reach a consensus following several months’ of dialogue. Acer Chairman J.T. Wang will take the acting role of CEO in the interim. Acer said it will continue to focus on its core PC market but will also be “stepping into the new mobile device market.”
