Mobile operator 3 UK has announced its first move into the MVNO space with a deal with Gamma Telecom. Under the deal, Gamma Telecom will offer an own-branded business mobile voice and data service using the 3 network. The service will be targeted at small to medium-sized businesses (SME) and will be taken to market via Gamma’s channel of more than 300 independent resellers. Gamma Telecom will be able to use 3’s HSPA network to offer customers access to mobile broadband services.

Media reports state that 3 UK is also talking with a number of other parties on further deals in the wholesale space. Meanwhile the operator has insisted it is not pursuing a wholesale strategy at the expense of its retail business, and has denied talk that it is preparing for a sale.
