Nokia’s head of developer relations Marco Argenti is to leave the company for a job with Amazon.

Argenti tweeted that he was moving on and confirmed to AllThingsD that he is to join Amazon’s Web Services division. It is unclear if Nokia has decided on a replacement.

As Nokia’s senior vice president of developer experience and marketplace, Argenti has been in charge of building developer support for Nokia’s Windows Phone-powered Lumia smartphones and devices aimed at developing markets, including the Asha line.

The loss of Argenti could have an impact on Nokia’s efforts to gain traction with Windows Phone.

Around 7.4 million Lumia smartphones were sold in the second quarter, compared to four million a year earlier. According to Gartner, sales of Windows Phone smartphones outpaced BlackBerry sales for the first time during the period.

Although it recently hit 170,000 apps, Windows Phone remains a long way behind the dominant Android and iOS platforms.
