App developer and tool business Bitzio has acquired media and animation studio Motion Pixel Corporation (MPC). With the acquisition, Bitzio brings in 35 animators, developers and managers.

Bitzio president and CEO William Schonbrun said the acquisition will mean apps built by Btizio or using its technology will be able to feature higher quality animation.

He added that MPC also has good relationships with sports and entertainment companies, meaning they can secure rights to animated versions of world famous athletes and stars.

"With MPC's high end visual capabilities, and media and licensing rights, we can now completely focus on delivering apps for existing fans of sports teams, athletes and stars – and we can include animated versions of those teams and stars in the mobile game,” Schonbrun said.

Bitzio also provides cross promotion of apps using its platform and App Wall technology and is looking to move into behavioural analytics.

No financial terms for the deal have been disclosed.
