The world’s largest handset vendor claims its high-profile Nokia Money service in India can be a catalyst for further mobile money service launches in emerging markets and help overcome industry interoperability issues.

In an exclusive interview with Mobile Money Live, Nokia’s director of mobile financial services, Gerhard Romen (pictured), highlighted the progress of Nokia Money so far and the benefits it can bring: “We as an industry need to cooperate and enable each other, and there will be different mobile money offerings, yes, but they need to interact and interoperate.  The same way as if I’ve got a debit account, I don’t care what your bank is – today mobile money is still different.  And that’s where we, with the Nokia Money initiative, look forward to helping the industry.”
