Sierra Wireless has announced that it is the first device vendor to support Australian operator Telstra in the world’s first dual-channel HSPA+ network. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 312U wireless USB modem is now commercially available in Australia, and doubles the theoretical peak speeds of current HSPA+ networks (to 42Mb/s), while at the same time “improving network efficiency and providing a better experience for customers with more consistent network performance.” Sierra Wireless claims that real-world download speeds up to 20 Mb/s are achievable.
