LG unveils Stylus 2 smartphone

16 FEB 2016

LG Electronics is set to launch a smartphone designed to support stylus input, targeting “mass tier” users.

The device, Stylus 2, is a successor to the G4 Stylus, and includes a “pen with a nano-coated tip for more accuracy compared to the previous rubber-tipped pen”. This is accompanied by “a set of proprietary functions” developed specifically for the device, such as a menu that appears when the stylus is removed to offer shortcuts to specific apps.

Specifications of the device, which is “lighter and thinner” than its predecessor, reflect its mid-tier positioning.

It has a 5.7-inch HD (720p) screen, 13MP front and 8MP rear cameras, 3,000mAh removable battery, and LTE support. Running Android Marshmallow, it is powered by a 1.2GHz quadcore chip, with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM (with microSD slot).

Pricing and availability details have not been released.
