Honor will launch into the US this month, with the market set to be the first outside of China to see the company’s 5X smartphone.

The device will be joined by the Z1 health band, which it said is “designed with equal emphasis on durability, performance and style”.

Announcing availability at CES 2016 last week, George Zhao, president of the Huawei subsidiary, said: “Since its founding two years ago, the Honor brand has seen extraordinary growth by focusing on the online market and bringing millennials devices that fit their digital lifestyles”.

And he described 5X as “a no nonsense smartphone that delivers all the essentials millennials want and need in a device”.

Powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, the device has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, with microSD expansion slot. It has a 5.5-inch full-HD screen, 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras.

Sales will be through online channels, including Amazon, Newegg and Honor’s own website, priced at $199.99.
