HMD, the company now offering devices using the Nokia brand, announced its first new product, although it was an extension to the existing Nokia feature phone rather than a (highly-anticipated) smartphone.

The Finland-headquartered start-up said its business is based on “an existing feature phone business and a new smartphone line”, and the new Nokia 150 joins “best sellers like Nokia 105, Nokia 216 and Nokia 230” – launched by Microsoft, the business’ previous owner.

The various deals necessary to enable HMD to start business – including its acquisition of the Microsoft feature phone business – completed earlier this month.

While the Nokia brand has been absent from the smartphone space for some time now (Microsoft instead transitioning to Lumia for this line), it has been a constant for feature phones.

With a target price of $26 before taxes and subsidies, the Nokia 150 specifications are understandably basic.

Nokia 150 has a 2.4-inch (240×320 pixel) screen, VGA camera, microSD memory card, torch, FM radio and MP3 player. A dual-SIM version is also available.

Availability will start in APAC, IMEA and Europe in the first quarter of 2017.
