Mobile payment company Bango has gone live with its direct operator billing technology for Facebook in Germany, the US and UK.

The technology allows users to purchase digital content directly through Facebook, without the use of SMS or a credit card payments and without the need to register personal details. Charges are added to consumers’ phone bills.

This leads to significantly higher rates of payment collection – Bango said its average conversion rate for payment is 77 percent compared to 40 percent for conventional operator billing.

“By ensuring a frictionless payment experience, Bango technology is unlocking the business potential of the mobile web,” said Bango CEO Ray Anderson.

The tie-up with Facebook was announced in February 2012, and the service will be expanded to other countries during the rest of the year.

Bango is already integrated with BlackBerry App World, Opera Mobile Store and operator-led connections to Google Play. The company also works with Amazon and Mastercard and provides mobile payment analytics.
