Taiwanese operator Chunghwa Telecom is reported to have reached break-even with its Hami Apps store, generating revenue of TWD5 million–TWD10 million (US$173,500–US$345,000) monthly. The company generates revenue from the sale of products, in-app advertising, and sales of apps to handset vendors, Taiwanese publication DigiTimes notes. So far, more than one million downloads have taken place from Hami Apps, which is expected to be doubled by the end of 2011. Earlier this month, it was reported that Chunghwa had partnered with China Unicom in a bilateral apps alliance, with each providing content for the other’s app store propositions.
