The GSMA argued critical reform of European laws are necessary to position the region as a technology frontrunner by 2030, a rank it argued had been lost due to various barriers to digitalisation.

The Mobile World Live (MWL) team reviews MWC Barcelona 2024, delving into the big topics: AI, devices, regulation and APIs, as well as personal highlights including make-up, singing keynoters, MWL-branded dressing gowns, a Barbie-themed phone and interviewing a President.

The GSMA revealed the return of M360 MENA. The event, hosted by the GSMA in partnership with Ooredoo, will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 18-19 November 2024.

GSMA director general Mats Granryd highlighted the increasing diversity of the wider mobile ecosystem, reflected by participants at MWC Barcelona 2024, was vital to finding new growth avenues and innovative investment models. 

Mobile operators representing 65 per cent of connections across the world have signed-up to the GSMA’s Open Gateway API programme in the year since its launch at the 2023 edition of MWC Barcelona.
