The Icelandic government is reportedly looking to sell its indirect 57.2 percent stake in the country's second-largest mobile operator, Vodafone Iceland.

The UK government’s blueprint, Digital Britain, was published yesterday to a chorus of criticism, particularly regarding its lack of foresight on the role of mobile.

Vodafone has announced its first commercial femtocell, the Access Gateway. It will be available from Vodafone shops or online from 1 July and the company claims it is the first of its kind in Europe, able to support four calls made on 3G phones simultaneously.

British mobile operators Vodafone UK and O2 UK said their first shared site has gone live. Vodafone’s equipment was added to an O2 base station to increase Vodafone’s coverage of a section of the M4 motorway.

The total number of people signed up for mobile internet services with Hungary’s three mobile operators — T-Mobile, Pannon and Vodafone - reached 607,479 at the end of May 2009 up from 565,510 the previous month.

T-Mobile International has said it won’t rush to launch femtocell services, despite Vodafone UK’s announcement that it is launching a service in the UK on 1 July.
