Telenor has announced that its Bangladesh subsidiary Grameenphone has begun trading its shares on the stock exchanges in Dhaka and Chittagong. In total, 316,496 new Grameenphone shareholders have been added through the IPO and a pre-placement offer (PPO) process, the largest in the country’s history. Shares in Grameenphone, which has a 44 percent share of the Bangladesh mobile market, ended up 153 percent at BDT177.30 (US$2.6), compared with the IPO price of BDT70 each. Meanwhile, Telenor also announced that Richard Olav Aa has been appointed its new CFO.
