Dow Jones Newswires reports that French smart-card maker Gemalto has subscribed to a capital increase in mobile payments vendor Netsize, with an option to potentially acquire the company at a later date.
According to Cellular News, Italian operator Wind has started offering SIM cards with an embedded DVD compliant optical disc in the plastic holder which can be used to store PC software or media content.
Digital security specialist Gemalto has made an offer to acquire mobile modules developer Wavecom. The offer values each Wavecom share at €7, a 72 percent premium over the last closing price on October 3.
The board of directors at M2M vendor Wavecom today announced it has unanimously deemed the financial terms of Gemalto’s acquisition offer as “clearly insufficient” and “not in the best interests of Wavecom, its shareholders and employees.”
