Turkcell, Turkey’s biggest mobile phone company by subscribers, said profit in the first quarter ended 31 March 2010 fell 25.8 percent as the company lost subscribers to rival Vodafone Group. Net income fell to TRL417.6 million (US$271.9 million) from TRL562.7 million a year earlier, while revenue rose 7.1 percent to TRL2.25 billion. The company’s total customer base in its domestic market fell from 35.4 million at the start of the year to 34.3 million at the end of March, a fall of 3.1 percent.
