DigiTimes reports that Acer had asserted that its smartphone business had been “unable to develop efficiently” under the leadership of Gianfranco Lanci, its former CEO, resulting in a build-up of inventory and associated cash flow issues. Lanci was claimed to have argued that a plan to make Acer more mobile-oriented and global had been viewed as an effort to “de-Taiwanise” the company. Acer recently restructured to create a group focused on mobile devices.
