Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) claims to have signed contracts to build 12 commercial LTE networks to date, according to a Reuters report. Thorsten Robrecht, NSN’s head of LTE product management, also told the news agency that it has trialled 30 LTE networks globally and described the momentum behind the move to the next-generation technology as “unbelievable.”

Last year TeliaSonera became the first operator worldwide to commercially launch LTE networks, and NSN has won a slice of the deal for future deployment (along with Ericsson). NSN has, however, missed out on high-profile LTE deals at US operators AT&T and Verizon (won by Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson) and will need to score major tier-one operator deals if it is to be a top player in the LTE equipment space.
