Russian operator MTS has been allocated frequencies that will enable it to launch LTE services in Armenia, following tests of the technology by its VivaCell-MTS arm and with the creation of a “special LTE test zone” in Yerevan before 1 December 2010. The allocation of the frequencies means that the operator has “an obligation to launch the LTE network into commercial operation before 1 March 2011.” Rival VimpelCom has previously stated plans to rollout LTE in the country.
