LG announced two additions to its Optimus smartphone line, including a large-screen device and a handset with integrated NFC.  Both also include LTE connectivity.

The Optimus Vu is aiming at a similar market to Samsung’s Galaxy Note, featuring a 5-inch IPS screen with 4:3 aspect ratio. It includes LTE connectivity, and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.

In a statement, the South Korean vendor said that the device “offers a unique combination of tablet-like viewing and smartphone portability.”

The Optimus LTE Tag targets the Korean market, and supports an NFC-powered feature called Tag+. This enables users to change the phone’s settings by swiping a device over a tag, for example activating silent mode and switching on Wi-Fi when entering an office, or enabling Bluetooth, GPS and increasing the volume when entering a car.

Optimus LTE Tag is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and has a 4.3-inch display.

Both devices are powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), with Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades promised.
