The Algerian government is demanding new back-taxes from Orascom Telecom’s local unit, Reuters reports, although the amount in question has not been revealed. It was suggested that the charge relates to a “suspected false declaration” made about the financial performance of the unit, Djezzy. It was previously reported that the government was looking to acquire the business itself, following an earlier dispute over taxes.
