Yahoo will integrate cross-platform application storefront GetJar’s entire library of more than 75,000 free apps into its mobile search results, making it easier for consumers to discover relevant games, entertainment and prosumer tools on the go. “Yahoo is the first search engine to pursue this kind of integration and we at GetJar couldn’t be happier about making application discovery faster, easier, and simpler, regardless of handset, country, or platform,” noted a GetJar developer blog.

The blog stated: “To make the most of Yahoo mobile searches, app developers who are not already on GetJar should submit your apps to GetJar’s Developer’s Zone (http://developer.GetJar.com). App developers who have already submitted your apps on GetJar should update your app’s meta data with text and descriptions that will enable search engine discovery, so that when a Yahoo mobile user searches with a relevant keyword, Yahoo! Search will trigger your app to show up in the search results.”

The integration is now being tested in the US, and will be expanded to additional countries in 2011.
GetJar now serves consumers spanning over 200 countries, generating roughly 100 million downloads per month and supporting around 2,300 different handset models in all. Earlier this month GetJar announced AT&T will offer its complete application catalogue via the AT&T AppCenter portal. The new GetJar app download offers access to a vast selection of games, social networking solutions, productivity tools and more, available for feature phones as well as smartphone platforms including Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, iOS and Symbian.
