App advertising and publishing company Tapjoy and movie streaming platform Popcornflix launched an Android app that offers users access to feature-length films in exchange for engaging with in-app advertising.
PopcornflixGOLD includes more than 400 movies which are available for free after users have earned virtual rewards, or FlixPoints, by engaging with in-app advertising from the Tapjoy Marketplace.
Users can search films by genre, actor or director, and select from the latest or most popular films, with between 30 and 40 titles added each month.
The app is already available for download on Google Play.
“We have long believed that the Tapjoy Mobile Value Exchange model that has worked so well for games translates well to premium content like movies,” said Tapjoy’s VP of sales, Tim Sipple.
“Combining high-quality feature films within a free-to-use model will kickstart a new development in how the viewer can access movies,” added president of Popcornflix parent Screen Media Digital, Gary Delfiner.
