Music discovery app company Shazam has teamed up with broadcaster ESPN to bring live coverage of the 2012 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, taking place at the end of January.

The event will see the first live telecast for the Shazam for TV app, meaning Shazam users can tag the live telecast at any point during the coverage and have instant access to news stories, timetables, results, video highlights, photos and music as well as connect to social media. Some Winter X Games promotions also provide content to Shazam users.

“Now, action sports fans have the next best thing to a ticket to Aspen – they can see more of the action, get more of the music and learn more about the day’s events – all on their mobile device,” said Shazam’s EVP of marketing David Jones.

“Shazam for TV will help us create a more connected experience for fans by bringing the great music and culture of the event, as well as photo galleries and highlights, to our fans who can’t make it to Aspen,” said ESPN’s SVP of Marketing  Carol Kruse.
