US social games developer MetroGames announced a partnership with mobile app publisher Chillingo, which it said will enable it to “leverage Chillingo’s well-known publishing, distribution and marketing expertise” to help expand its growing line-up of iOS games. MetroGames said it has “already established a strong presence in the mobile gaming space,” with its title Plock having been downloaded 1.5 million times from the Apple App Store. It is planning to launch several more games in the coming months, including a mobile version of its “highly popular” Facebook game Pixel Ranger.

Chillingo was acquired early this year by games giant Electronic Arts. At the time of the deal, EA said that it is aiming “to preserving Chillingo’s independence enabling them to manage and cultivate their great network of relationships to deliver the optimal gaming experience for consumers.”
