South Korean games company Gamevil announced strong growth in smartphone and overseas sales in 2011, stating that growth was the result of “successfully adapting to changing market conditions.”

For the 12 months, some 73 percent of annual revenue came from smartphone sales, with the company offering “more new titles optimised for modern smartphones and high resolution displays.” The company previously said that during the second quarter of 2011 smartphone sales accounted for 62 percent of its total, indicating solid growth in this business throughout the year.

The company noted “aggressive” growth of 106 percent in its overseas sales year-on-year. Its Gamevil USA office continues to drive its international smartphone efforts, while Gamevil Japan will drive further growth in Asia.

For 2011, net income increased by 9 percent year-on-year to KRW16.1 billion, on revenue of KRW42.6 billion, up 39 percent.

Looking forward, the company is forecasting a 58 percent increase in sales to KRW65 billion (US$57.8 million) in 2012, with plans to release “a record number of over 40 titles during the year.”
