US games rental company GameFly announced plans to publish games for Android and iOS, with the supporting launch of an independent store for Android in the third quarter.

It said in a statement that it has “set aside a game development fund to work with mobile developers that are in the process of making a great game, but need the extra resources to publish and promote their titles.”

It also said that through its Android store, it will offer an “expertly curated” selection, with “thousands of the best games and daily deals.” With a large social network for gamers, GameFly also noted that it will support friend recommendations, and ratings and reviews from other players.

The company is currently accepting submissions from developers, and expects to publish its first title in the summer.
