Distribution and funding company appbackr partnered with MoVend, which it described as a “leading innovator in app store distribution in Asia,” in a move it said will see operator and OEM app stores throughout the region populating their catalogues with the best apps offered via appbackr’s programme.

MoVend will use appbackr to source apps for portals run by vendors including Samsung, HTC and Lenovo, and operators including SingTel and M1 in Singapore, Telkomsel (Indonesia), Bharti Airtel (India), Maxis (Malaysia) and Optus, Telstra and 3 in Australia. Later this year it will support operator stores in the UAE and Egypt.

appbackr said its SmartApps algorithm “enables the discovery of the most promising new apps and sleeper apps at the tipping point of success with predictive analytics.” It also identifies which apps will be most successful for a specific market, and distributes apps to the most appropriate retail channels and target audiences based on that data.

Earlier this year, appbackr announced a partnership with neXva, which it said provides developers with distribution across more than 50 platforms in the US, Europe and Asia. It also said it had sold US$1 million worth of retail apps in its marketplace.
