The group behind a new wireless technology – WiGig – will test the system in real world conditions this week with the second WiGig Plugfest. According to the organisation the testing programme is a sign of the imminent transition of ultra-fast 60GHz WiGig networking to commercial products. WiGig’s technology is designed to connect consumer devices at up to 7GB/s and is expected to be commercially available next year.
