Vodafone UK was accused of illegally monitoring the activity of its mobile broadband customers, after users noted the involvement of an automated system in their sessions which would load the same destination website address shortly after it was requested. According to ISPreview, Vodafone uses the technology, from provider Bluecoat, in order to classify sites in case an adult rating is necessary, with the company stating that “it is used solely for child protection and to block illegal content and not for any other purpose.”
