Stéphane Richard, CEO and chairman of France Telecom-Orange, has unveiled the operator’s target of providing one third of EU hospitals representing 20 percent of its citizens with digitised health services covering areas such as medical imagery, chronic disease management, prevention and wellness, secure medical data management. Orange’s target for healthcare is one of ten commitments the operator has made to the European Commission that formalize its commitment to the commission’s Digital Agenda for Europe.

The ten commitments cover three categories: fast communications, rich services and responsible behaviour. The commitment on healthcare was featured in the second category relating to services. The target to digitise Europe’s hospitals fits with Orange’s existing strategy which its head of healthcare Thierry Zylberberg laid out to Mobile Health Live recently.
