Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has been tasked with expanding Saudi Telecom Company’s (STC) TD-LTE network and modernising its GSM and 3G networks. NSN is now responsible for building a third of the operator’s TD-LTE network, which was first launched in September 2011 and should provide speeds of up to 100Mb/s. “With more and more subscribers using bandwidth-intensive applications for smartphones and USB dongles, we needed to modernise our existing GSM and 3G networks, while rapidly launching 4G services,” said STC network sector VP Bandar Mohammed Al Qafari.
