Proposed US wholesale LTE network LightSquared has renegotiated its spectrum transfer agreement with UK-based mobile satellite company Inmarsat to give it extra time to win regulatory approval to operate its wireless network. LightSquared has now paid the US$56.25 million it owed Inmarsat but further payments will be suspended until March 2014, as LightSquared battles for regulatory approval. The payment freeze covers US$29.6 million that LightSquared was due to pay Inmarsat at the end of March this year.
