The government of Chile, operator Entel and vendor Ericsson are implementing a project to provide 3 million people in remote rural Chile with mobile broadband and mobile telephony services by the end of 2011. The first stage of the project, called Rural Internet Network: All Chile Communicated, was completed in September 2010, at which point 1.7 million subscribers had been connected.
