LG Electronics is reported to be readying a smartphone with a secondary ‘ticker’ display above the main screen, which could be used to display information even when the main screen is dimmed.

Even though information is scarce, the idea seems to be similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Edge devices, which show notifications on the sides of the display when the main screen is off. Unlike Samsung’s offering, the LG device would still need to be screen-up to view content.

Apparently called V10, the device also sees the front-facing camera shifted to one side, in order to make space for the ticker.

Other mooted specifications – as citied by @evleaks – include 5.7-inch 2K screen (excluding the ticker), Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip, 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage, microSD expansion slot, and 16MP rear and 5MP front cameras.

Engadget noted that the device has also been submitted to Chinese certification body Tenaa.
