HTC unveiled the latest in its Desire family of mid-tier devices, Desire 510, which the vendor said offers “super-fast LTE connectivity at an affordable price-point”.

The 4.7-inch screen device is powered by a 1.2GHz quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, has 8GB of onboard storage with microSD expansion slot, and has a 5MP main camera.

It also features the vendor’s BlinkFeed, which aggregates updates from social networks and RSS feeds.

Peter Chou, CEO of the ailing company, said: “The industry has been talking about the 4G effort for so long now that it’s easy to forget that only a small selection of top-end devices are taking advantage of the technology. Owning the latest and greatest technology shouldn’t be reserved for those with the highest budgets.”

While HTC has described the device as offering a “truly premium mobile experience at a highly affordable price”, the company has not given a suggested price point.

Available in white or grey polycarbonate, it will launch with “mobile operators and major retailers in Europe and Asia as well as select carriers in the US”.

According to reports, HTC may next week announce a Desire-family device with 64-bit processor.
