Vodafone New Zealand is using products from Alcatel-Lucent for its Sure Signal service, which is intended to provide users with an “unequalled mobile phone signal even in environments where this has typically been a challenge (such as in rural or in-building locations).” The operator is using femtocell technology from the vendor alongside its existing mobile network, as “the quickest and most cost-effective way for the service provider to prepare its mobile network for the upcoming data explosion.”
