UberMedia, publisher of a number of Twitter apps for mobile devices, is apparently planning to set up a rival microblogging service, which would address common Twitter issues such as ease of use and message length restrictions. Twitter has previously blocked access to its APIs by UberMedia, which offers the UberTwitter app for BlackBerry and Twidroyd for Android among others, due to violations of its terms and conditions. According to CNN, UberMedia apps generated more than 11 percent of the tweets during one day.
