NII Holdings (Nextel) was the big winner in Brazil’s spectrum auction this week, picking up eleven of the 13 permits on offer, Dow Jones Newswires reports. The company is paying more than $700 million for the 3G permits, bidding as much as three times the minimum for frequencies covering Sao Paulo State. The company has not stated when it intends to launch services.
