PRESS RELEASE: ZTE Corporation has announced that it received Outstanding ESG Performance of H-share Companies Awards for its outstanding achievement in ESG at BDO ESG Awards 2023.
Organized by BDO, one of the world’s five largest accountancy networks, the BDO ESG Awards recognizes outstanding listed companies in Hong Kong that have made a positive impact in the areas of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) – those that implement outstanding sustainability initiatives. The BDO ESG Awards adopted “Carbon Neutrality” as the theme of this year in recognition of the urgent need to combat climate change.
As a leading tech company listed in both Shenzhen and Hong Kong, ZTE adheres to the concept of green development and leverages technological innovation to support the global decarbonization of the economy. To date, the company has accumulated over 650 green innovation patents, spanning various technical domains such as energy conservation, power reduction, consumption reduction, temperature control, heat dissipation, and efficiency enhancement.
Upholding its ecological role of a “Driver of Digital Economy”, ZTE is dedicated to paving Digital Economy Boulevards and driving green development across various sectors through four key dimensions: green corporate operations, green supply chain, green digital infrastructure, and green industry empowerment.
In 2022, while maintaining revenue growth, ZTE achieved a YoY decrease of 7.48% in greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1&2&3), while saving 57.56 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, resulting in a YoY reduction of 6.4% in energy consumption. In May 2023, ZTE announced its participation in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aiming to achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 1.5°C temperature rise limitation pathway and ultimately reach net-zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.
ZTE’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has gained recognition worldwide. Over recent years, ZTE has achieved numerous notable acknowledgments, including making it to the 2022 and 2023 Fortune China ESG Influential List, remaining in FTSE4Good Index Series for eight consecutive years, as well as being included in the Hang Seng (China A) Corporate Sustainability Index (HSCASUS), the Hang Seng (Mainland and HK) Corporate Sustainability Index (HSMHSUS) and the Hang Seng (China A) Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index (HSCASUSB).
Furthermore, ZTE has been selected for the inaugural S&P Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) in 2023 and recognized as one of the Top 100 ESG Companies among Chinese listed companies by the Securities Times.
