PRESS RELEASE: During the 14th Global Mobile Broadband Forum, the 5G Industry Summit was successfully held in Dubai. Operators and industry partners from around the world discussed how spectrum evolution, ecosystem maturity, service upgrades, and technological innovations can continuously accelerate the 5G industry and lay a solid foundation for the 5.5G era.
James Chen, President of the Global Sales Dept of Huawei Carrier BG, delivered an opening speech at the summit where he pointed out that since the commercial use of 5G, its socio-economic value has been fully proven. In the future, the whole industry needs to work together in three areas to fully realize the potential of 5G: first, spectrum. Successful experiences in markets such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia prove that large bandwidth from mid-band spectrum can provide the best network capacity and user experience, and is the spectrum that can maximize the value of 5G. Accelerated 5G mid-band allocation is the basis for providing ubiquitous and high-quality experience for global mobile users. The second is the ecosystem. The industry chain needs to be fully coordinated to provide users with better performance and cost-effective devices, such as RedCap CPEs. Finally, business. Industry partners need to jointly develop more 3D and immersive applications to meet the continuous evolution of user requirements. In addition, higher service requirements also pose higher requirements on network quality. Therefore, building a more efficient, green, and high-performance 5G network is critical.
Cullen Xu, Vice President of Huawei 5G Product Line, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Continued Innovation and Building GigaGreen.” Cullen Xu pointed out that TDD mid-bands and M-MIMO are the best combination of 5G spectrum and technologies, becoming the mainstream choice for global 5G network construction. The ecosystem of mid-bands such as 2.3 GHz has matured enough to build LTE large-bandwidth fundamental network for smooth LNR evolution. To meet the continuous evolution requirements for 5G network performance and energy efficiency in the future, Huawei proposes the GigaGreen vision. Through continuous innovation, operators’ investment efficiency and user experience can be balanced. The ELAA technology is becoming a mainstream evolution direction of 5G technologies. Ultra-large arrays provide wider coverage, better experience, and lower energy consumption. It has been recognized by the industry as the next-hop technology of M-MIMO. MetaAAU, the first product using ELAA technology, has been widely deployed around the world and has been recognized by the industry for its advancements. Huawei is moving ELAA towards ultra-high bandwidth, increased simplification, and greener improvements, with the launch of its high-bandwidth MetaAAU and Meta BladeAAU, which implement “0 Bit 0 Watt” technologies, laying a solid technical foundation for GigaGreen.
Spectrum acceleration, ecosystem maturity, and technological innovation will continue to help upgrade 5G services. During the summit, the industry witnessed the commercial success and broad prospects of RedCap and FWA.
Huawei and industry partners released the phased achievements of the commercial use of RedCap. China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom have deployed RedCap in more than 10 cities, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shenzhen, Foshan, Ningde, Jinan, and Suzhou. RedCap covers multiple industries such as manufacturing, electrical power grids, and vehicle connectivity, and will establish a series of RedCap commercial benchmarks. Leading operators such as E& in UAE, STC in Saudi Arabia, Zain in Saudi Arabia, STC in Kuwait, Zain in Kuwait, STC in Bahrain, and AIS Thailand have lit the way by either completing the technical verification or testing the commercial use of RedCap.
In addition, Huawei, together with GSA, Zain, and Asiatel, announced the Global 5G FWA Industry Acceleration Initiative, which proposes to jointly accelerate the development of 5G FWA. Tylor Yang, Vice President of Huawei’s 5G Product Line, taking charge of FWA Business, said FWA has proven to be the most successful 5G business thus far. Huawei continuously invests in FWA solutions to improve spectral efficiency and ensure user experience for real-time services such as videos and gaming, driving the robust and sustainable development of FWA.
