PRESS RELEASE: ZTE Corporation and U Mobile, the award-winning mobile and digital services provider, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at MWC Barcelona 2024, to enhance collaboration in 5G and 5G Advanced technology, Containerisation and Autonomous Network initiatives, as well as 5G Adoption for businesses.

U Mobile will leverage upon ZTE’s technologies and expertise on several key focus areas: 

  • Demonstrations and use cases that feature 5G and 5G Advanced technology and capabilities, such as enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) and Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC) which promises an even faster experience to accommodate scenarios like high-definition video streaming on-the-go and remote surgery, respectively. 
  • Evolution of U Mobile’s 5G Virtualised Core Network to Containerisation, an approach that involves compartmentalising network functions into multiple isolated ‘containers’ instead of running them on a full-fledged operating system, leading to greater efficiency, speed and agility for both consumer (ToC) and business (ToB) applications. 
  • Improving the intelligence of U Mobile’s network through the development and deployment of an autonomous network study, using ZTE’s leading technologies as well as adoption of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML). Autonomous networks run with more flexibility and concise network architecture, and is able to configure, monitor, and maintain itself, making network operations more efficient, reliable and generally, perform better.
  • 5G Enterprise Solutions and use cases that focuses on the business (ToB) sector where both parties will identify and implement innovative solutions that leverage 5G for various enterprise applications.

The MOU was signed by Heang Tuck and Steven Ge at the Malaysian Pavilion during the MWC Barcelona 2024. The signing was witnessed by YB Tuan Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, Malaysian Minister of Communications.
