PRESS RELEASE: With the in-depth deployment of 5G, mobile communications not only profoundly change people’s lifestyle, but also become a new engine for accelerating the process of social and economic digitalization and informationization.

However, even today, there are still some remote areas with only 2G signals, and people can only use basic telephone and SMS to communicate, and they are completely unable to feel the infinite highlights and development opportunities brought by the digital world. In South Asia, there is a village facing such a situation. Due to the dense link deployment of hub sites and the scarcity of existing spectrum resources, coupled with the difficulty in acquiring new frequency points, there are many obstacles to expanding the capacity of the existing network.

Huawei addressed and try to resolve this issue. In 2022-2023, Huawei has been analyzing the local situation and finally selected a Hub site to conduct commercial testing of Huawei’s microwave feature – Automatic Transmit Power Control (ATPC) to verify the performance and reliability improvement with Huawei SuperHub solution.

The ATPC of SuperHub is a software feature which varies the transmit power level in order to maintain the receive signal level (RSL) above the threshold for bit-error-rate (BER) desired. As a result, the new feature can optimize the frequency reuse angle from 90°to 20°, improving spectrum efficiency by 3 times, whereas currently existing microwave frequency can only be reused at 90° that makes difficult to do expansion in the network.
