Osama Bedier, VP of Payments with Google, has left the company. He joined in 2011 from PayPal in a high profile move. His departure was lower key, confirmed by Google in a statement.

Google has now lost at least six senior payments executives since the start of 2012.

A statement from the company followed a Venturebeat story about Bedier: “We can confirm that Osama Bedier has decided to leave Google this year to pursue other opportunities. He’s achieved a lot during his time here, and we wish him all the best in his next endeavour. Payments are a big part of what people do every day, and we’re committed to making them easier for everyone.”

The statement does not reveal when Bedier actually left beyond saying it was in 2013. Also, the statement does not explain the reasons for his departure.

What’s certainly true is that Google Wallet has not been a success since its launch in the autumn of 2011. News generally about the mobile wallet has been thin on the ground since a new strategy for working with banks was announced in the second half of last year.

When Bedier joined Google, the move sparked a lawsuit from its former employer, PayPal, over alleged trade secrets.
