Canada’s Bell Mobility has been confirmed as the second operator to offer Palm’s new high-profile Pre device. The country’s second-largest operator will launch Pre exclusively in Canada sometime in the second half of 2009. Pricing details have not yet been released. US operator Sprint will launch the Pre by the end of next month. Both operators will offer the device on their 3G CDMA EV-DO Rev A networks.

Palm is hoping its new mobile operating system, webOS, and touchscreen Pre phone will help turn around company fortunes. Palm saw revenues sink 70 percent year-on-year as it reported widening losses in its most recent fiscal quarter. The forthcoming Sprint launch has attracted huge global interest, with early reviews of the Pre appearing to be favourable and drawing comparisons to Apple’s iPhone in terms of functionality. Recent reports suggest the vendor could be looking at a Sprint launch date of 7 June, the day before Apple is rumoured to launch a new iPhone product at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Reports today suggest Palm is also partnering with social networking site Facebook for the initial marketing launch of Pre.
