Helixion has officially launched its white label lok-MPL mobile payments platform, which, said the UK-based company, is capable of working with any wallet, payment scheme,  phone or secure element.

Already used by 12 major banks and financial institutions throughout Europe, Helixion – which specialises in NFC mobile payments – says commercial rollouts of the lok-MPL platform will take place throughout the year after further testing and piloting has been done with major European banks and network operators.

“The NFC mobile payments are set to explode over the next few years,” said Sue Balatoni, managing director at Helixion. “Financial services companies and mobile network operators are extremely keen to be able to monetise NFC mobile payment services. We believe that the official launch of the lok-MPL is a step forward for the marketplace delivering tangible benefits for businesses looking to move their mobile payment strategies forward.”

The lok-MPL platform, which supports Mastercard and Visa payments, is backed by consultancy and support services. Helixion claims the support will ensure banks, mobile network providers and third-party solutions providers can “maximise their investment in NFC mobile payment applications”.
