Asian and European carrier Telenor has announced the appointment of new CEOs at its operations in Denmark and Malaysia. Jon Erik Haug (pictured) is to become CEO of Telenor Denmark, succeeding Henrik Clausen, who, after five years at the helm, is appointed new CEO of DiGi, Telenor’s subsidiary in Malaysia. Haug has been promoted from Marketing Director at Telenor Sweden. Meanwhile Clausen succeeds Johan Dennelind, who leaves DiGi on May 17.

Telenor’s Danish and Malaysian operations form part of the group’s mobile presence in 13 markets across the Nordic region, Central and Eastern Europe and in Asia. According to Wireless Intelligence, Telenor Denmark is the country’s second-largest mobile operator (behind TDC) with over two million connections and 27 percent market share. DiGi is Malaysia’s third-largest operator with almost eight million connections and a 27 percent market share. Telenor fully owns its Danish operation and has a majority controlling stake (49 percent) in DiGi.
