US number-three operator Sprint has increased CEO Dan Hesse’s pay packet by 31 percent, despite the company recently posting another annual loss. Hesse was paid US$11.9 million in 2011, as the company’s share price fell by 45 percent amid concerns that it had taken on an excessive financial burden through its decision to sell (and therefore subsidise) Apple’s iPhone. Bloomberg reports that Sprint had said the cost of the iPhone launch is excluded from the 2011 bonus calculations.
