US tier-two operator Leap Wireless said it is “exploring cost-effective alternatives to deliver 4G LTE”, as part of a cost management drive that will also see it “managing 3G network capacity investments”.  For the third quarter of 2012, it reported a net profit of US$26.9 million, compared to a prior-year loss of US$94.1 million, on operating revenue of US$774 million, up 1.4 percent from US$763.3 million. The company benefited from a US$130 million gain from the sale of spectrum to Verizon Wireless.
