Remittances from the US to the Philippines are a major driver of the Filipino economy, a new partnership between Globe GCASH and Paypal meets the key demands of international remittance. It’s convenient for both those sending and receiving the payment, secure and affordable.

PayPal users can go to www.globe.com.ph/gcashonline and make a payment directly from their PayPal account. They enter the recipient’s GCASH registered Globe or TM mobile phone number in the Philippines and the amount they wish to send, review and confirm their transaction. Recipients in the Philippines will be notified through a text message on their mobile phone. Funds are credited to the recipients GCASH wallet and they can cash out at any of the 18,000 GCASH outlets thoughout the Philippines or use the funds to buy load, pay for their bills or make purchases from online or retail merchants.

According to the World Bank’s Migration and Development Report, worldwide remittance levels reached US$316 billion in 2009 and are expected to increase at 6.2% in 2010 and 7.1% in 2011. An estimated 10 million Filipino migrant and contract workers remit US$17 billion annually.
